wasp dagger

Every several years, this oddity comes up in a movie or something. It's a dagger that is divided so that it has two different tips. It looks like this:

I have never handled one, and if it was a good design it would probably be more popular among legit knife companies. Seems to me that it ends up removing materials from the spine, thus taking away point strength. Is there actually any functional value to this style of knife that I'm missing?

If you slash someone's jaw Glasgow punishment style they wont be able to stitch it up properly if that's what you are into. But you get the same efect with a carpet cutter and two blades with a penny in between them.
Load of crap serves no useful purpose.

Yeah, I figured two discontinuous wounds might be more difficult to deal with and have a much larger internal surface area, but overall it seems like a poor design. I was kinda wondering what others thought though.

Damn, that compressed gas knife is the gnarliest thing I've seen in a long time.

The Wasp injection knives i've seen are kinda cheesy-ly built, the trigger notably.

The one in the op makes me think of this..

The dagger looks nice, but I think the (spokes, tips, wtf?) would break off doing anything important, and the kind of steel needed to make it useable for stabby stabby without snapping would be too malleable to hold a decent cutting edge...

But again, it looks sexy.

I doubt the injection knives would work very well against sharks. Their skin is tough.

Besides, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powerhead have existed for decades.

Unless you're being a dick to a shark, they're probably just going to leave you alone.
