There should be a variety of knockdown karate flavors swirling around you, most with more clinch grappling than Kyokushin, shop around for one of those and bring back a little funk to mix with the boxing you'll be taking when you get back.
Do you want to be a butt flopping butt scooter all your life? Train judo.
I've read on here that Kyokushin and Shotokan would be the some of the best forms of karate to train if i go that route. Are there any others i should consider? Do they implement clinch grappling?

With solid BJJ you already have overcome the biggest weakness of any standup art...not knowing wtf to do if you get tackled to the ground.
With that said, almost any stand-up should do with a quality instructor. Watch classes in a few schools so you can see the quality of the instructors and the results of their teachings as the students practice.
I want to second this, but he might be spoiled by it when he gets back to the US and can't find it here. Ashihara karate is also pretty awesome, it's kyokushin plus a few sweeps and throws.

You'd be a fool not to train Judo in Japan.
If you can find it try Nippon Kempo as well its pretty fun.

Didn't anyone ever tell him a fat man could never be a ninja
You can't practice Judo just to win a Judo Match! You practice so that no matter what happens, you can win using Judo!
The key to fighting two men at once is to be much tougher than both of them.
Also, kyokushin doesn't do the clinch in general, and shotokan doesn't really either. If you were going to have good odds of finding good shotokan, it'd probably be in Japan, but there's so much other cool stuff there that it's not really worth it.
