Thanks people, so Vale Tudo is like street fighting, except wasn't it made by the same guy who made Gracie, or Brazillian Jiu Jitsu?

Umm...the first vale tudo contests were challenges between BJJ and other schools. It's a streetfight in a ring, basically.
BJJ and similiar styles reign supreme in vale tudo.

I knew there had to be similarities between BJJ and Vale Tudo... but really, are they the same art? I need to see a BJJ vs. Vale Tudo clip...

I think I saw one of those Mecca Vale Tudo matches and these are like Capoeirista's that are fighters that compete in these events and yes mostly all practitioners that do Brazilian Martial Arts only enter these competitions but it's only televised in Brazil.

"Vale" is pronunced with only 1 syllable, and is pronunced "Val" and "tudo" is 2 syllables and is pronunced "toodoo" or "twodoo", like in "vodoo".

I meant like not all but some of the top fighters in Capoeira enter in the Mecca Vale Tudo and all the other excellent Mestre's just teach and not compete.
