For my 1st dan, I had to do a speed punch break against a board (hold board with one hand, break with other. It's a lot harder than it sounds), Spinning heel kick, speed side kick (person holds the board only at the bottom, so you have to speed a side kick fast enough to break it without just having the board flop backwards), and you got to choose one.

    So I did a 540 roundhouse.

Haven't you guys ever watched "Human Weapon"? In the Muay Thai episode, they broke concrete with their elbows.

Breaking is fucking mad, but a lot of the videos are just parlour tricks perpetuated by BS artists. See Ashida Kim's 'TEAM IMMORTAL'.

Can someone link some of the good videos out there, because I know they exist. Like some high density stone with no gaps between the slabs.

Still it's a bloody awesome trick.

Excellent. In addition to the cement blocks I also did a spin back/side kick speed break. And then a 2 station break of jumping front and round kick. Didn't look that impressive live (other than it was fast and effective). But when you paused the video (no longer extant, I'm afraid) just right I was all Matrixed out hanging about 4 feet in the air.

    So yeah. Breaking is bad-ass.

And lets face it, if boards and are so non-resisting and weak, and you CANNOT break them, what does that say about you :P and then should you really be allowed to move onto real opponents.
