I also rated the school based on the rating system that was in the thread. Maybe someone should be a little clearer on that system?
Why would I put that up? Please read my sentences as a whole instead of nitpicking them apart.

Sorry, until there are recognized Pro competition venues, like they have in China, a CMA school will never get a 10 according to Bullshido rating criteria in certain areas.
Seriously, don't go this route with me it'll end poorly.

There is a caveat called PRO COMPETITION BEFORE I USED THE WORD NEVER.
My statement is extremely clear especially, if you are using the reference Rivington just provided.
    10: Superior excellence [B]including[ A-level competitors/instructors/B]
So, the teacher may be A level but, you said they compete in local tournaments.

Also many of the members have competing in local grappling tournaments and done well.
But mainly it was just because there is no active MMA team.
The do push hands and compete, San Da and Compete.

    And from whiteshark:
Looks like several solid amateurs in Sanda and Grappling tournaments.
That removes it from a 9- 10 right there quite clearly.

Honestly I don't understand the hate for an eight. I mean it is really easy to give the school an eight and say "This school would receive a higher rating but, they only compete in local and Amateur competitions. I'd give them a 10."

this would be easier if the scale went to thirteen and a half or so.

Please don't troll in here okay? We have enough problems. If you are serious, adding more numbers will make it worse.

i'm completely serious. making a scale purposely arbitrary makes it easier for people to rationally assess things instead of saying 10/10 five stars would buy again ++ when they know better.

You just said 13 1/2 so now, I can't take you seriously.

Actually, it might help if instead of numbers 1-10, there was a descriptive phrase replacing each number. So instead of choosing 10 for aliveness because it looks nice, people would choose "limited medium-contact sparring" because "full-range and -contact sparring" would feel like an obvious lie. Also, people would no longer need to look up what the ratings mean.

Yeah that actually would have made it a lot easier. But then we wouldn't have anything to talk about!!

This leads me to believe no one reads the explanation threads.

You do know this exact phrase led to the creation of the aliveness FAQ with videos right? I was explaining it to someone just like this thread and went to get a few videos to define the differences.

So, no, words can be misinterpreted just like the numbers.
