In other related but not publicized news, K-1 also bans being defensive and blocking. K-1 one will explore the option of a circular padded 'ring' later this year for their New Year Eve event, typically the largest event of the year. This padded ring will feature an elevated edge, to prevent fighters from falling out of the ring. If a fight is pushed up the ring, or retreats to that area, and stays so for a longer period of time the referee may call a foul on that fight and results in a point being taken away.

They'll also start to advertise themselves as "stand-up MMA."
