You ever notice that striking styles' cool self-defense moves are always grappling techniques? I can say truly that my style's response for everything is just about the same.
Q: What do you do if he tries to hit you with X?
A: Block it, hit him back, or get hit with it, then hit him back.
Q: What do you do if he grabs you like this?
A: Hit him with whatever he isn't grabbing.
Yet apparently taekwondo is only a kick-punch style until you're on the deadly streets, then it's wrist and elbow locks only. -

lol reminds me of when i did TKD as a kid. we did TKD sparring and self defence drills. all the self defence drills were poorly trained grappling techniques for example we were taught an osoto gari which was trained against a fully compliant partener and we were never taught how to break the opponents grip or to break his balence before attempting the throw.. oh and taught to lead with the wrong foot aswell.
the rest of the self defence stuff was bullshit knife defence using hapkido style wrist locks etc i though that tkd was teh d3adly untill i got older and got slamed by a judo friend many times while trying to prove that tkd was deadly. been doing judo ever since thanks to that painfull lesson.
