wow, and he lists his formal education as a PhD in Asian Studies from Canterbury University. I wonder how much that cost. How does one defend a dissertation by mail? or did they do away with the dissertation requirement?

He's the founder of his style, so 10th dan sounds right in that sense.

Certified by the Ateru Worldwide Association whose directors include Stephen Hayes, Jason Frank (from the Power Rangers), Frank Shamrock and the founder and President Kevin Cullen ... interesting. Application form may be found here, but you need to be a member.

Ok, so I got my pepe smacked for having such a short post...my bad, I will add. Actually, that picture is about the most legit I've seen the guy. Last time I saw him, he was wearing a ginormous obi, basically like one sewed atop the other, that was sparkly gold and black...over top of his hakama. His sword art, San Ryu Do, is something he invented and it specializes in dual-wielding wakazashi. The "Scorpion Pose" is something he is famous for developing...it looks akin to an 'archer block/stance' in karate but with a short sword in each hand. Anyway, there is a cult of guys on this "sokeship council" that are giving each other certs. for high dan rank in arts they've created. There are some legit technicians in this cult, but they are clouded with insanity.

No it doesn't. What rank did Jigoro Kano hold in the art he founded? Or Funakoshi, Ueshiba?

Damned if I know. I would imagine that they weren't too concerned about it.

Sarcasm doesn't come off well I guess. Thought it would come through with the notables on the board of directors, but maybe not.
