    Mental Warfare

Vera v JOnes about to start and I just realized that Greg Jackson may have made Jones get in Vera's face on purpose at the weigh ins. I will say more after the fight just a thought.

    OK wow beautiful elbow.

Back to what I started think about.

I really think Jackson had Jones do that to Vera at the weigh in to get in his head. If it was to make Vera expend energy for the next 24 hours or to make Vera second guess himself for a second for whatever reason. I think it was on purpose and to give Jones a slight edge in Jackson's mind. Even it was just to boost Jones' confidence level to give him an edge.

I am telling you right now Jackson is a mastermind.

Hard to tell but Jones was able to impose himself pretty quick on Vera.

I am not saying that Vera was going to curl up in a corner of the locker room and cry. I am just saying that it was a planned encounter.

On fight day it is hard to keep fighters frame of mind going in the right direction. Maybe Jackson did it to keep Jones focused thinking about how he pissed Vera off and got into his head.

I was just curious. I haven't seen the fight nor the encounter you mentioned, i just wondered.
I am of the opinion that confidence makes a good deal of difference to some peoples preformances.

I can't make a generalisation like that. Most people will be affected by thier level on confidence, absolutley. All the ones I know do. Doesn't mean that someone, somewhere, thinks, works or acts differently.

That stipulation right there gives me confidence as I agree, and you would know (much) more than I.

I remember a while ago that TB disapproved of Jackson's strategies, stating that it was making his fighters boring.

While I affirm they tend to have a technical approach and usually a good game plan which can slow a fight down, it is often masterful to watch.
Consistantly he keeps putting them on a winning track.

Exactly, training with Jackson will give you a very competitive edge. I would not say he makes fighters boring but more aware of themselves and the other guy in the game.

I would say he notices ticks and tells and that may be the thing that Jackson has them waiting for to strike. I am just speculating about what goes on but I assure you they are doing next level stuff at his camp.

No commentary on Jones' beautiful clinch work? Vera may be overrated but he's a hard man to put on his back. Jones did it twice with some textbook throwing. I especially liked the head snap down to set up the double.

As for the incident, look back at weigh-in photos. Jones puts his forehead against everyone at the stare down. Vera just got upset by it where no one else has in the past.
