I saw this while I was looking for something else tonight. I was talking about this last year and everyone said I meant the half Boston crab. Instead of writing pages of text to explain what I really meant, it would have been nice to just point to this picture. Anyway, here is the giff so others can use it in their arguments. :P
You can opt for the RNC at the end after (with right arm) or instead of (with left arm) the cross-face. If you can't get it then pound on their spine from the rear mount or whatever.

That's what we call a reverse boston crab....close enough. That one doesn't work too well in my experiance.

You can throw this in if you manage to drag the guy back or stand up. You are right though, it's not as easy as he is making it look here. The guy in guard is not resisting too much. It's hard to pry a guy's leg up like that .. if he has loosened up a little you can do it .. like maybe after pounding his nuts once or twice. :P
There is also a way to do this with just your arms. It's not easy to do. Like if you can hook one arm across .. like hook your left arm across over his right leg and jam your right arm under it (even just that one step is pretty hard to do) and clasp them together. Then try to turn to your left, turning his leg and wedging one arm in there under the knee while you press his shin down with your arms and chest. Then climb up his body for rear mount. This is really hard to do though. Especially since the guy can just reach up and grab your arms to stop you. It's just another option that may work once in a while. Not the best. Anyway, its the first picture like this I have found so I thought I'd put it here and see what people had to say about it.
Do you think most people's legs are just too strong for this?

He can also just slide over to the right and push his hips back to the left. If he slaps both arms to the mat maybe you can finally get that can opener he was fighting off though. Who knows.

When I am in someone's guard, I find it almost impossible to move that freely. There is just too much strength in the other person's legs for me to just brush them aside like that without some sort of guard passing technique.

I meant the guy in guard could turn his hips and slide over to the right to keep the guy on top from being able to put his leg over.
The guy on top isn't going to be able to swing the guy in guard around like a rag doll. I know that. There are no easy ways out of the guard or cheap trick escapes. It is always going to take hard work. I wasn't trying to say, "Hah! Look the guard is weak and stupid!" No way. I think it is a fortress. I was just saying, these are some ways to try to bust out of it that you don't see every day. A guy's guard isn't always tight. His legs aren't always clenched. This stuff isn't going to work against a solid guard. What will though? Prayer?
