Oh, and the whole hockey-fighting thingie of using it to control your opponent.
You'd think someone would get the idea to attack while you're taking your shirt off.

I do it with the hopes that my opponent, upon viewing my beer belly will underestimate me, thereby allowing me to take the initiative and get the first strike while they are consumed with laughter....

we get issued elastic ties for exactly this reason because in their veiw the biggest danger we face is to get choked out by a tie.
I had to read this twice because I thought you wrote electric ties. That strikes me as something the Joker would wear.

When I was a kid growing up in Lynn, Mass it would be a common sight seeing people remove their shoes before a fight. Kicking someone barefoot was considered simple assault and battery. Kicking someone with shoes on was assault with a deadly weapon.

Removing your shoes told your opponent (and the gathering crowd) : "Yeah, I'm planning on kicking you and yeah, I know I'll likely get arrested for it later." Sort of an example or bluff that this isn't your first dance.

Removing a shirt just seemed obvious for reasons already posted.

Hell, if you're gonna do that, you might as well whip your junk out and really scare the guy off.

Besides, my pen0r skills are great, I could use it as the Scorpion uses his spear or as another limb to hold the guy, Goro style.
