    No BS Street Systems

I am 53 years old and practice kali and kenpo karate. This is all fine and dandy and I have nothing against those systems...the kali can be devastating.

That said, I am looking for a down and dirty, no BS, modern CQB system I can train in to (a) build my fitness level, and (b) reasonably rely on in event it was needed in a street altercation. I'm talking about the common street threats one might encounter in 21st century suburban America, not bands of terrorist commandos.

My question to you'all: Out of the following systems available to me in my home area (Northern VA-Washington, DC region), which would represent the quickest to absorb, street-worthy self defense art... Krav Maga, Haganah, BJJ, or a blend of Vunak Jeet Kune Do/Inosanto Kali/Paulson Combat Submission Wrestling that is offered at one local gym?

    Many thanks for your comments.

in this order: common sense, rhetoric and etiquette, track and field, and proven fighting styles like boxing, wrestling, judo, BJJ, muay thai.

    or something like that.

if you're permitted to carry guns where you live, maybe throw that amongst the list somewhere, i dunno.

See which one does alive training. That should be a choice. I would avoid the Krav Maga though; being a lot of the actual good trainers are in Iraq right now or not in the US.

i don't remember who said it first, but the original went something like:

"rhetoric and etiquette, track and field, chick-chick-boom"

    i always liked that.
