    Fasting

(searched but found nothing specific in title)

While browsing the stronglifts website I came across an E book they're trying to sell called 'Eat Stop Eat' which is basically intermittent 24hr fasting, 2x a week.

Anyway, according to the sales pitch of this product short term fasting doesn't slow your metabolism and causes hormones to be released which will help fat loss etc etc. The site owner of stronglifts testifies to it but I'd like to know if anyone has any knowledge as to the effectiveness of intermittent fasting, or if it is simply another gimmick.

Here's the link, a link to the full sales pitch is on there too

I heard starving yourself multiple times will start to change your body and it'll start changing everything into fat.

There's a kid that did a log of this on a website I frequent. He pretty much went from fat to scrawny, and spent most of the log arguing about how he wasn't becomming scrawny despite the pictures.

Really, if you want to lose fat, I'd just do what has worked for decades by simply eating a caloric deficit of quality food.

Yeah, he tried very hard to argue that he wasn't losing muscle because he was "using calipers", despite the fact that he was using them incorrectly. His theory was that it didn't matter if the method of measuring was incorrect, as long as it recorded a trend.

The insanity of that logic still baffles me.

I just don't think the way to improved health is via starvation.

You have always advised me well, so I will follow your suggestion on that, as on all the other stuff. :-)
