    I dont see the problem with it as long as people take responsibility for their own health and get knee pads like wrestlers.. AFAIK they are perfectly legal

    I've never heard of batsugan and i'm also on the east coast. Having come from BJJ it makes perfect sense to me though. Our promotions are mostly like that anyway.

    Exactly. I've done on the knee seoi nages for 25 years, never hurt my knees. Knee injuries are all from other judoka doing stupid stuff to me.

    The dropping variations are also not allowed in some areas (in Canada, for example) because they are not good for the overall development of kids judo.

    The USJF's Hudson Yudanshakai (NY/NJ/CT) does batsugun at the promotional shiais for sankyu and up. You can get points for batsugun if you beat a certain number straight by ippon or waza-ari. Look on the batsugun form here. http://www.hudsonjudo.org/forms.html
