Do take a look at these.
Fedor's hand position during the last punch.

Look at the position of his elbow while he punches Gary. It's the same as in the video above, and it's nearly impossible to put your elbow in that position while not turning your hand over.

Nearly every punch lands with the thumb pointing down.

Let's not forget, in throwing that punch Fedor often ends up hitting the opponent when the fist is horizontal, but the follow-through is all the way to vertical.Last edited by G-Off; 10/22/2009 9:32pm at .

Nice post G-off.
I should say that that punch can have the hand hit in different positions. But, thumb down is the most common and fluid IMO.One of the best Bullshido investigations ever written: http://www.bullshido.org/David_Kujawski_Investigation -

One of my old students who I encouraged to join Serge's club told me about Fedor punching precisely like this in his instructional book. I'm pretty sure he walked around with a boner for a week after reading it.
Nice thread & vid. I was left wondering after the other Fight Geek clip's padwork, so this is really great. What a disgrace it is for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable. -Xenophon's Socrates -

yeah, just the angle you're seeing
Think of when you close the hood of your truck, you have to roll your shoulders up to get enough force to close it easily. Its like the posture you assume when you throw a discus, you need to get your lats involved or it ends up being just an arm punch.
Without the over-rotation, you won't get the back muscles to fire with the punch.
As far as advantages go, its not a silver bullet but it is another angle to attack from.
Fuuuck, Nog has a hard chin!!!Many things we do naturally become difficult only when we try to make them intellectual subjects. It is possible to know so much about a subject that you become totally ignorant.
