    Hell yeah! Hell no!
as a judo guy, all i can add to this is that i love my mizuno eurocomp and am very angry about it being illegal for competition now. i wanted to get HCK judo double, but he is sold out and doesn't know when he is getting more (also probably illegal for comps.)

probably will buy a mizuno shiai soon, although i wanted to get a kusakura while in japan (not enough money right now to afford that, those are really expensive.) the main reason that i want a kusakura is that they are high quality judo gis that are unbleached and will therefore last longer (also i tend to like stuff that is hard to get for some sick reason.) most of the unbleached judo gis that i find are cheapo made in pakistan ones.

Holy crap, plus rep for you sir! I've been looking for something to replace the nasty "fabric" cords in my two current gi pants. Now for the bonus question, where can I buy a roll of that in a local store?

Indeed. If I had (a lot) more disposable income then sure, but I'm still hesitant to get something marketed as "thin" and that costs about double the other stuff, even with you and other guys swearing by them.

Both the judo guys at our gym recommended Mizuno gis to me. What exactly made the eurocomps illegal? Not that I'd buy one, they're also ~$170+.

"thin" shouldn't even be a concern the price is what's blowing my mind.

Mizuno = very nice! Vulcan is just not right for me. Century is okay and anything and I mean anything is better than the really, really old Gracie Academy GI's that would fall apart in three months time. I have to admit that some times I think that jiujitsu Gi's are way over priced and that someone and we know who they are have been ripping people off!

well, it was legal last year, and will probably not be an issue at the levels that i compete at. the problem is that only "IJF approved" gis will be allowed in national level and international competitions. mizuno has discontinued the eurocomp, and has put out a new dogi called the "shiai" which is IJF approved.

i'm not sure what it was about the eurocomp that had to be changed, but i read somewhere the phrase, "the old armor-like gis are a thing of the past" so it may be about it being hard to grip. i have heard that the shiai is softer than the eurocomp.

Along with the Shiai, y'all should also look into the Mizuno Sempai.

Bought a Swain years ago from Century's seconds bin for $25. Never did figure why it was there. Definitely my best buy for the price.

The one KWON which I have is pretty tattered.

Mid weight jacket feedback please. Getting older and sweat a lot more now (-:

BJJ Gi most of the guys like the shoyarolls. I am getting a Fuji BJJ Revolution Team Gi in a week or so. We use Fuji for the gym gi and they are nice.

Judogi, Danrho makes the best gi. Kwon is the best for the money. Toraki makes a dam good one but you pay for it. The Mizunos are nice but expensive for the good model.
Judo is only gentle for the guy on top.

So after blowing through on average a ProForce Gladiator Gi a year since I started I decided to drop some $ on a couple of Koral Gis. I have the Koral MKM competition for BJJ and a Koral Classic for JJJ. I will say definitely worth the money. I like how the gis have a single piece back because that where several of my cheaper gis have ripped. Also they are very lightweight and comfortable to train in. Its my first top of the line gi so I don't have much to compare it to, but definitely feel they are worth the money I paid.

I have owned 7 atamas. I keep coming back for a reason. If they were preshrunk, I would not have ventured out into the world to try other gis so many times.

I liked the two Vulkans I bought. But they shrunk so much I gave one to sirc. I am 5'11 and anywhere from 185-210 depending on how lazy I am at the moment. And you know how big sirc is. That's a fuckton of shrinking. Add to that another $50 in price tag ($150? wtf?) and I probably wouldn't buy another.

I love. Love Kiko Raca. That rubber insert in the collar seems to be making it break down faster, however.

Sorry if I'm oversharing, but I love buying gear.

Has anyone tried Troija? Everyone at my old gym raved about them. They're relatively new, but one of the instructors was bringing them back with him from brazil when he went. Very lightweight, very sturdy when I tried them on. Semi reasonable price tag.
