    Grappling questions

Ok, so I had my 4th Judo lesson and we were doing Newaza, changing partners every 5 minutes or so and I managed to submit two Brown belts, one with a triangle and the other with a rear naked choke after he gave up his back. None of the others were able to submit me
    So my questions are
    1) Did I just catch them by surprise because I am a Judo White Belt and they assumed I knew nothing?
    2) Am I possibly the new prodigy ala BJ Penn?
    3) Where these Brown belts just poor grapplers who maybe enjoy the throws?
    4) Were they just taking it easy on me?

You trained any BJJ or grappling before? Many of the white belts at my BJJ club would tear through the average Judo brown (and a not inconsiderable number of black belts, frankly) on the ground.

I'm six weeks into judo, going twice a week. In my first week, I similarly did well in ne waza, leading to thoughts that I might be a natural grappler.

Last night, I was submitted six times straight with exactly the same scarf hold by a white belt who is the same age, same weight, and has the same experience as me.

From this, I conclude that diligently going to judo has made me considerably worse at judo. From now on, I'm staying at home and watching pr0n.

You probably are far superior than all of them. Try to teach them the next time you are on the mat.

    1,3,4 are all possible.

I caught my judo instructor with an omoplata from a rather unorthodox set up. That covers #1.

But, he was going a bit easy on my. That covers #4.

And yes some people are just not as interested or as trained in newaza. That is #3.
There is no cheating, there is only jiu-jitsu.

Iíve had a couple of BJJ lessons in the past, I also did Judo for 2 months about 6-7 years ago but never graded.
On top of that I used to meet with a friend once a week who was a BJJ White Belt and we would just grapple for a couple of hours in the Gym that he worked at but again this was about 7 years ago.
I watch a lot of MMA and have done since UFC 1 so I try and copy what I see. Is it possible that some of the techniques I am trying are considered advanced techniques in Judo which is why I was able to pull them off as they hadnít seen them yet?

BTW when it comes to throws I know I suck.
