Someone should tell these kids that it's just not hip to forearm block club-type weapons these days.

When you write his name like that it sounds like an MMA fighter. Try reading it in your best Bruce Buffer voice.

Maybe my gf will try, in the meantime the only words I recognize are "farmer" (its also a slang in Russian for a good man, as in strong, or tough, or something like that) and the second word is "stick" ("sticks"?)

I guess if there were more bad words I would have known more. Unfortunately my Russian is limited to mainly bad words.

So, in the time being, they are talking about big men with sticks.

My big problem with that one was that the drill was teaching them to hang out in the baton's striking range rather than closing or moving away.

Do Russians just not believe in middle ground? Do they all have to be either incredibly amazing or incredibly retarded when it comes to martial arts?

mother russia does not take kindly to mediocrity. she either loves you because you're special (for better or for worse), or she ignores you while you drink yourself to death.

"We wanted to study systema, but spent all of our money on vodka. Yuri, who is a genius really, came up with the idea that we should make our own martial art. We drank some more, worked on it for 45 minutes and now you see the results."
