    I bet there's a lot of bitterness between the two classes if they actually are separate. I can picture the ninja students snickering as they walk past the Shotokan class and angry slapfights breaking out in the hall.

    Well, buddy the thing is that in most western countries 90% of the ninjutsu dojo's are fake's designed to make quick money over the ninja craze that originated from the Hollywood movies. The hand to hand combat component in ninjutsu is called taijutsu. there are weapon arts too but they aren't very popular. ninjutsu originally included the study of poisons,espionage etc so most dojo's claiming to teach ninjutsu aren't really doing that. but apart from that ninjutsu is good, efficient and fast martial art.
