If this article is intended to be a complete definition of Larping perhaps we should include the fact that:
LARPing originated as a game played by mainly prepubescent nerds who were well aware of the fact that it was a game and nothing more. The problem originates with martial artists who essentially do the same thing as the LARP game players but consider themselves serious fighters.
I know Conde kind of touched on what I just said but personally I was unaware that LARPING was an acutal game played by actual nerds before I discovered bullshido. I'd include the point that some people are well aware that they are playing a game and don't really believe that they are true warriors. Maybe site the "lightning bolt" clip as an example.

As a *real* LARPer, I can tell you that the impression you get from the web is not quite accurate.
Most *open* LARPs are like costume fairs (Engrish?), and its not uncommon that people take their children with them to show them how people lived in "Ye Olden Times".
*Closed* LARPs is people who give stuff for the stereotypes that then make stuff for movies like this:

True Larping also seems to have the most arrogant and troublesome students, they will state how effective they are and how high their rank is yet they will not allow anyone to test these claims with physical trials. They usually will only point-fight (with limited rules) or they will avoid the issue altogether.
Sounds good changed one thing that cought my eye:

Okay, my apologies as well.
However, let's not degenerate into name calling; most LARPers are down-to-earth people that simply like the atmosphere of such medieval fair events, like the SOCA, for example. - While most of them are history buffs, I've seen only a few who became delusional about the effectivity of their fighting skills.
The way we use LARPer here on BS, meaning, dressing up in a funny way and believing that this costume brings you the powers of the person you want to impersonate, has nothing or very little to do with my two nephews dressing up as medieval street kids and enjoying the first time they see a horse in real life.
Most LARPers I know, in fact have little or no MA training - the fight's outcome is decided by rolling the dice before the physical engagement, and the fights themselves are mostly just funny skits to kill some time. The training LARPers usually do is precisely to hit in a way that you would cause NO damage if the strike wasn't blocked.
