From http://www.theselfdefenseco.com/about_self_defense.asp (scroll down quite a bit):
Meet Damian Ross Self Defense Company CEO and Master Instructor

3 Black Belts, International Competitor, Division 1 Collegiate Wrestler, Hall of Fame Athlete, Security Agent, Private Contractor and Bouncer, Mr. Ross has been in the mix since he was a wee-little ass kicker. In 1998 he began training scores of people in what would become The Self Defense Training System. Over the years Secret Service Agents, Federal and Local Police, Military, members of the Famed NYPD and Private Contractors have traveled over thousands of miles and paid top dollar just to train for an hour with Mr. Ross.

Realizing the demand for this ultimate form of self defense was too great for him to do by himself he launched The Self Defense Company (SDC) in 2007 to certify and train people using new distance learning techniques implemented by leading universities. Despite the economy at the time, the SDC exploded on to the scene and has left all other forms of martial arts and self defense stuck in the 1980’s.

When Mr. Ross is asked why the SDTS is so successful, he just shrugs and says, “People know the real thing when they see it. The SDTS was created based on necessity. We needed to know what worked because our lives depended on it. Most of the SDTS members are people who see violence on a regular basis, so it has to work.”

Mr. Ross has been featured in SWAT magazine, Black Belt Magazine, Martial Arts Masters Magazine, The Danny Bonaducci Radio Show, Fox News and makes regular appearances on other mainstream media.

Below is the short list of Mr. Ross’s accomplishments.

    * 4th Degree Black Belt Tekkenryu Jujutsu /Military Combatives Under Carl Cestari

That site is hilarious and so full of win. It has flames, barbed wire, scratched steel plate, a massive radiation symbol for major bullet points and '12 training modules of mayhem', 'start kicking ass NOW!'

I wish I had the brief to make that site, I bet it was a right hoot to work on.

Absolutely. It's had a lot of money spent on it to look good and and some people obviously love that look but at the end of the day it's still a **** car.

    A bit of history:

Lt. X and Damian Ross went into business together on the LT X. Top Secret fighting system. Those tapes sucked, just look up Lt. X / Chris Pizzo on the encyclopedia.

After Chris and Damian went their merry ways (they both claimed a lawsuit was involved)
LT. X became "Captain Chris" even though the POW Network has proven that he never served a day in the regular armed forces.

Damian had been a student of Carl Cestari at one time, and all the empty handed chopping you see is probably a product of Cestari's system, which was never, "closed, or secret, or unavailable". Instead it was WWII combatives from various sources which was taught openly in New Jersey. The reason why Damian doesn't say it the way I do, is because he was not Cestari's senior student, and therefore cannot claim inheritence of the system.

There are likely to be some useful moves on the tape but some of the tapes involve killing and weapons techniques that are of no use the the civilian. For example if the cops catch you with a pair of brass knucks, watch your assualt charge jump from a misdemeanor to a felony!

Finally Damian insists that distance learning means you don't have to study with a partner or instructor. When studying a physical activity I find that claim to be hilarious.

For a one time payment of $24.99, you too can learn to swim without ever stepping into a swimming pool!
