    DC Judo

DC Judo is the new location where pretty much everyone from the Primal Fitness club went after they kicked us out to make room for more parkour classes. Same instructors, same mats (except now we have to set them up and put them away every class). We're now at the Mount Vernon Square rec center, next to the Mt Vernon Square metro station though. Which means it's noisier and little kids occasionally try to sneak onto the mats. But on the other hand, it's fifteen bucks a month to train, plus thirty bucks for a gi, to train with competitive judoka and a bjj purple (me) on an olympic sized mat.

Class times are wednesday and friday, six to eight pm, despite what it says on the site

Oh sure, post this now, right after I get back from staying in the Renaissance by the Washington convention center. Jerk.

Looks like my next three trips to the DC area are Herndon, now. Doh.

Are you trying to say that Judo is more effective in a street fight than Parkour? Blasphemy!

Great place to train. Friendly, "go hard" attitude and cheap. Decent number of Judo BB's and at least two BJJ purples. This will be my "Friday spot" for the foreseeable future.

Shouldn't this review be in the Japanese martial arts section rather than the MMA section?

Sweet. I'm in DC for business quite often. I'll drop by sometime in the next month.

I do not know what kind of mats you have so this may not matter.

The first location of my Judo dojo was at a racquetball club. We had to set up and tear down for every class. Once you get the mats in place, turn them over and number them. It makes doing it much easier.

I travel to DC often for work...there now actually. I typically stay in Alexandria but am right by a metro stop. Would it be alright if I stop by sometime? I'll be sure to bring my uniform. I'm leaving in the morning and not sure when I'll be back as work gets a little light around the holiday and I'll be in CA for the most of Oct...
