My tool of choice for the day when there is no more room in Hell is going to be the custom wood splitter/maul my dad welded togather for me and my brother after we broke the handle out of the third axe, this thing was made from log truck parts, and is capable of reducing blocks of chainsawed timber to fireplace sized even if the swinger completely loses control of his swing and wallops the wood with the blunt (er) end.
Granted, it's a bit cumbersome to haul around and I wouldn't recommend it for everyone, since I've been all winter for the last five years I believe I'll be able to manage. Plus it'll be useful for splitting wood in the winter months. -

I have the one on the far left. It's a bit hefty, but manageable. I heard from an "expert" that the spike-backed one is great for Z-Day. But I think the hammer poll is a little more versatile because it can be used for chores and for splitting zombie skulls. I also had to roll my eyes a bit at the self-proclaimed expert. Hundreds of hours spent in an XBox game is not the same...

I hear ya! I can see where the spike would come in handy if your only target in the world is some dead guy's brain pan (or if crewing a tall ship on the high seas...), but I was planning on using mine for "real world" enemies, like campire logs.
Leaning towards the "pipe hawk" over the others purely on the basis of looks. I'm sure any of the designs with the hammer head back will do the exact same things just as well. I just like the smooth contours and classic profile. They look great moded up in the classic New World style with notches and tobaco leaf designs on the blade.
AFA a bush tool goes, I don't think they come much more versatile than decent hatchet.Last edited by Mr. Machette; 10/16/2012 7:15pm at .
