Out of bullets=flimsy bludgeon. Bullets weigh a lot. After Katrina, we learned the Road Warrior scenario lasts about 12 hours IRL, them you're walking. Also, gunshots signal zombie food for at least hundreds of yards, so you're gathering to your position with a firefight. El Kabong or chop a few while the others aren't looking, you can still sneak/shamble off.

I'd still want to keep more distance between myself and a zombie. Remember, one bite and it's over.

A trained Naginata player is fast and accurate as hell. I still think a halberd of any sort would be best. You can also hit with the butt of the pole-arm, giving you slashing, piercing, and bludgeoning all in one.

And as I've stated before, if you've trained in any of the Japanese weapon sports, you'll have a decent set of armor for protection as well.

A small crowbar is a deadly bludgeon that has lots of applicability besides using it to crack heads, compared to a bat or bludgeon.

There is a smaller "one handed" version of a haligan tool.

Even saw one that had synthetic handle. Which would cut down on weight.

I'd post a pic, but I'm on an unfamiliar Mac right now, and can't figure it out.

I think a xenomorph apocalypse discussion would be a lot less played out than a zombie one.

My weapon of choice: bow with alkali tipped arrows. Nobody ever seems to think of their highly acidic blood as a weakness as well as a strength.

I believe my weapon of choice would be a clan of "Predator" xeno-types.

Unfortunately, this leaves me with no back-up plan, as I can't be carrying any personal weapons around them. It's a significant drawback in the plan.

Forgive me for not wading through the 40 pages. Has anyone mentioned Gool-Jitzu? I had the good fortune of interviewing the inventors of this martial art specifically designed for use against zombies. It includes recognition, rules of engagement, knowledge, and technique.

    http://www.goolitzu.com - their website
http://youtu.be/xCXCX5ovfDY - my interview at the NYC Zombie Crawl this spring.
