Best martial art for zombie apocalypse?

Somehow, ritual drunk-conversation concerning team captains for the apocalypse has become a major part of the lives of 20-somethings. Having been matured in the Grandaddy-crowned masterpiece film (put “A.M. 180” on and forget that you have a job) 28 Days Later and the best-selling Zombie Survival Guide, we’re all a little too ready to deal with the 2012 of our dreams.

“The Safe House,” designed by KWK Promes, starts to get eerily close to something I could work with, if say 200 bludgeoned members of the undead army came over to eat their way into borrowing some sugar.

“The most essential item for our clients was acquiring the feeling of maximum security,” begins the designers’ website in the summary of the structure. Who wouldn’t feel safe in a concrete rectangle that folds in upon itself to become completely sealed? Even the windows are covered with a slab of concrete when the structure is on nap time.

The house, with its movable walls, has only one entrance, which is located on the second floor after crossing a drawbridge. Seems like the perfect opportunity to use a flamethrower and defend the life of your family, while stylishly nesting in a piece of architectural elitism.

Dunno, but if you think about it, a zombie is a thing with a human face. When you train, you try to make it as realistic as is practical because you want to remove your hesitation in delivering or recovering from physical shock. Imagine a guy for whom not one fiber in his body resists delivering a killing shot. You don't need a martial art, just a workmanlike approach to killing something.

Dunno. Lumberjacking gets you comfortable with swing an axe, but not necessarily with watching something die. Working in a slaughterhouse would wash that reflex out of you pretty quickly.

Most people would be got by family/friend zombies IMO

Discounting the pyschological horror of rotting corpses walking the earth? Most people would have mental breakdowns or kill themselves.

And that's why I think a dude who did heavy labor in a place filled with stink, blood, skin, and an industry wide accident rate that is a horror flick by itself will do well with a nice quick ten pound sledge or a modest splitting maul. Even better than a martial artist.

Sure, and that is rational, but think about it on an emotional level. It's difficult to swing for the kill on something looking you in the eye. If a fresh one is on you, it would be hard to hit the face. That why they put the faces on police targets. You have to train for it. I think that a lack of hesitation would be the key for survival, even more than training. Somebody who can strike accurately, regularly, and not get so much as ruffled from day 1 of the zombie apocalypse.
