Spike TV to air PrideFC every week

Looks like they'll be putting all that archive footage to use. I'm curious if they'll use the old commentary, or if they'll redo it with Goldy/Joe or new people. Either way, I'm definitely excited for this turn of events. Word is they won't be using Fedor, Aoki, or any of the big names in other orgs though. No use promoting the competition, I suppose?

Well, the press release clearly named plenty of fighters not signed with Zuffa:

Hosted by Kenda Perez, the series features past and present UFC® champions among the legendary MMA combatants that includes Chuck Liddell, Anderson Silva, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria, Dan Henderson, Mirko Cro Cop, Wanderlei Silva, Fedor Emelianenko, Josh Barnett, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Mark Coleman, Frank Trigg, Hidehiko Yoshida, Akihiro Gono and Takanori Gomi.
So I guess we'll see, huh?

I wonder if they'll even touch the Royce Gracie/Sakuraba fight?
"Tonight, on a 2 hour special event, Spike is proud to air the Royce Gracie/Sakuraba match. Watch as these fighters duke it out in the longest MMA match yet."
2 hours is enough time for the match and the 30 or so commercials for "Manswers."

Set the DVR to kill! This is excellent news. I, too, am interested to see if/how they change the presentation.

I don't suppose anyone knows if they will be showing this over the pond?

I don't think they'd spend the money for Joe and Goldy to do that (plus, Bas and Quadros/Mauro are pretty good). It's not even Rachel or Goldy hosting it. It's some other chick.

I still can't bring myself to watch Zuffa-produced Pride stuff, no matter how justified they were in shutting the promotion down.

    It just feels wrong.

I've set my DVR to record the series. Friday will be a good day for MMA with Inside MMA on HDNet & the Pride series on Spike. Now if those of us on DirectTV could get our Versus (WEC & soon to be UFC) back...
