Patriot Ordnance Factory - P415

I was curious if anyone on these boards have had any first hand contact with this weapon. I've have read previous posting about it and they all seem to be good. It's claims about being self lubricating as well as foul-up free (mostly, I'd have to actually see for myself to believe it 100%) seem to be true. Below is a link to the defensereview.com review of the weapon. Also below that is a link to the Gun-Weapons magazine article about it's big brother the P-308 (.308 Win). I have a hand gun, got me a shotgun, found the knives I was looking for, and now it's time for a good 16 inch rifle/carbine

Yeah, that's been one of the issues I've been reading about. The price is a bit steep, especially since you could build a pretty good AR/M4 style rifle for for 1000-1500 bucks. Then again, if the thing is reliable as they say along with the self lubrication and extremely low carbon fouling, then I'll pay that premium and just sell the kidney to pay for spare parts.

Does that affect the amount of recoil after firing?

Datamachine, if you live in Washington and you're military you need to go to Olyarms just outside of Olympia and have the custom make you an AR-15 to your specs at cost.

Just make sure you get it chambered for 5.56 and not .223

Looks nice. Unfortunately, it seems like they don't have an gas piston models. I'll have to check more but it looks like the standard AR gas system. That's one of the things I'm trying to avoid. I remember the fun of spending all day after range day just cleaning and cleaning weapons. Plus I was the designated 249 man so that was even more fun...blah! I'm not in any more. This is mainly going to be a good practice/SHTF/Zombie carbine.

QFT - but would you pay 1500.00 more for one that doesn't (or at the very least, requires nothing short of a gremlin or leprechaun getting accidentally chambered)?

I guess that's the ultimate question.
