I have mixed feelings about "self-teaching" weapon play. Certainly, anyone trying to actually learn to fight with weapons/understand how to fight with weapons should really join a formal training environment.
However, if you just want to teach yourself how to Gymkata with nunchucks, it's not exactly like you can do that **** wrong.
However, doing anything other than practice cuts with sharpened blades is straight-up retarded.

Hopefully swordforum won't mind the hotlinking. For those with sharpened swords lying around from a mispent youth, please treat a sword with the same respect as any firearm or other weapon. To give you an idea, this is the result of said noto, for those not up on their sword terms, a slow moving, no impact move, this isn't even an attack.

The exit wound just below the man's elbow

I'd seen that thread in the past and I've just located and read it again now - and I'm still struggling to visualize in my head how the guy managed to do that.

He was attempting to sheath his sword, correct? But somehow ended up sheathing it in his arm? :new_shock

    Wow, now that's talent.

Who knows, maybe trying to master a technique?
"Yoshimitsu has a trump card technique where he stabs his own abdomen in the hopes of catching his opponent, however at the cost of his own life. What if I perfect the technique? What if I just act as if I'm trying to sheath my sword with my back to the opponent but as he draws near stab myself through the arm? I'll no doubt have nerve damage and quite possibly die from blood loss, but if I'm able to get myself to some medical help, I may survive... It's just so crazy that it HAS to work."

Heh, that reminds me of the 'if all else fails - try to ensure that his knife ends up embedded in your arm, so you can remove it from his grasp, pull it out of your flesh and use it against him' guy...

I wanna see Huge Knight duel with John Clements. JC comes across as an arrogant **** at the best of times, but I'd dearly love to see him destroy that stupid, cliched waste of atoms.

I'm starting to doubt that it's his sister, maybe some neighborhood asshole having a good laugh at the kid's expense. Or maybe it's just a troll job. Who knows.
