wing chun to be represented in K-1

Paul Newby one of British Karate most exciting athlete's who is amongst the best pound for pound fighters Karate has to offer will face Wing Chun Specialist Kasim Khan trained by Colin Ward a student of Master Yip Chun and the late Yip Man. Khan says Wing Chun is a complete fighting system with no limits most effective in close quarter self defence, very few people can stand a sustained attack from a Wing Chun Stylist. Khan is eager to prove that Wing Chun can also be used in a competitive situation even with boxing gloves in the K-1 ring. Newby has already proved his prowess in Karate competition winning the English title nine times and the British title twice he is a long serving member of the British Karate team and won a Silver medal in the European Championships and a Bronze medal in the 2002 world Championships"

I don't know about Ip Chun as a teacher, but I think that there are better WC sifus out there. I hope he's done some cross training.

Yeah, there are much better Sifus out there. But he's eager to prove himself, not the system.

As someone asked, is trapping allowed in K-1? Also, boxing gloves for WC? I dunno.

When is this fight so I can watch it on eurosport?

Hahaha, yeah true, but its just like anything the guy could be a great fighter anyway but have a bad trainer and you can have a great trainer and a bad fighter. Just saying there are probably better trainers out there thats all no excuses.

I guess you could sort of pak sao if that's legal, because that's just kind of a slapping motion, but I don't think they'll let it slide if you straight-up grab somebody's hand or wrist. It would seem too grapple-esque

A side note: Can you do that under sanshou rules?
