" Unless you have had the pleasure of being thrown, you never really can appreciate the "unbalancing" done before a throw."
Very true the moment when you say to yourself AAAHHHH ****........ THUD.----------------------------------------
After reading Jekyll's threads I bring back an old sig.......

It's a beautiful thing.
Normally, I'd say I was grappling, but I was taking down and mounting people, and JFS has kindly informed us that takedowns and being mounted are neither grappling nor anti grappling, so I'm not sure what the **** I was doing. Maybe schroedinger's sparring, where it's neither grappling nor anti-grappling until somoene observes it and collapses the waveform, and then I RNC a cat to death.----fatherdog -

I remember when my buddy from Kenpo took his first judo lesson, all 6-4 and 280 of him.
He was set up with a brown belt.
He was thrown 3 times, the last time on his shoulder ( dislocated).
He NEVER said ANYTHING about juso after that.
Did I mention the Brown Belt was 150lbs?
Did I mention that strikes WERE allowed? -

The only trouble with seoe-nage is that if you don't pull it through 100% you may end up with your back taken, which is fine in a judo comp, since you may get at least some score, but in submission match it's trouble.
The animated one (harai-goshi) I actually pulled on successfully yesterday in a no-gi workout. It rocks!!!
The third one (uki otoshi) I have never seen done in a comp, nor in randori. There's old footage of Mifune doing it but that's it. I think your timing has to be SUPERB to be able to do it.

virtual,
generally you stay standing if you can(exception being sacrifice throws). often times if the throw's not perfect and or the throwee dosent let go they will pull you on top of them. most people realise that hiting the floor and having a body hitting you at the same time is not in their best intrest pretty quick like. the worst is when you acceidenty pull someone with you, they drop to their knees and land on your balls. i did that once.....and only once now i let go. -
