I doubt you're near 30 or you wouldn't have written: lolwut, "sick" as an adjective, zomg (?), or "i was like," which is generally uttered by teenage girls. That sort of slang isn't the least bit cool to us decrepit old men.

Hey, it's also used by 45 year old women who dress like 16 year olds, trying to get laid.

Your age group slang is biased. Biased!!!

Weird isn't it? I just hung out with a friend I met 10 years ago, when he was my age now. He was winding me up because I with bitching about my hang-overs and sore knees and so on.

"Now you know I felt when I was hanging out with you guys at Penn State!"

Has anyone ever injured their intercostal rib muscles? I pulled one on my right side and it hurt like hell. Now, it is preventing me from doing any type of training. When I twist or sneeze it feels like I am re-injuring it.

Aside: I am newbie and an old fart, so I never know where to post (I have been working Haganah and Boxing for nine months and I am 55).

Perhaps I should move on to shuffle board.

My first session of martial arts last summer I clumsily got my fist stuck next to my ribs while doing forward rolls. My ribs hurt bigtime for several weeks but I just had to drive on, plus I was too embarrassed to tell anyone and sit out any of the activities.

Naah, don't quit your training, wait until your body can't take it. It doesn't matter if you aren't the best boxer in town or that some techniques take extra effort to learn, still better to be working on improving versus getting old prematurely. Anyway, that's my plan. I'm 50 and my challenge is too many pulled muscles (I neglected flexibilty training for way too many years), slow healing and the recovery period from hard workouts takes longer than "back in the day."

I seemed to have pulled something in my lower back this evening giving a frigging lecture. I mean... I was just standing there talking.

Y'know, I can get thrown on a hardwood basketball floor, I can do ukemi on concrete, I can spend a full 8 hour day attending seminars, but standing in a formation for more than 10 minutes, or washing dishes (bending only slightly forward to reach into the sink), and my back seizes up like mad. I've got L4-5 herniation, and though I can do all sorts of good martial practice, the simplest postural change and I've got to got sit down, stretch out my back, and eventually take some pain meds...

Life sucks when you get past 30...
