Rifles and scopes? Really? They are pretty hard to conceal, and what if you get attacked at a strip club or AARP meeting?
A small revolver is the answer.

**** you."We often joke -- and we really wish it were a joke -- that you will only encounter two basic problems with your 'self-defense' training.
1) That it doesn't work
2) That it does work"

Been doing BJJ for 12 +years. Did JJJ for years before that, not anymore. Also train Boxing when my shoulder can handle it. Less and less sadly. I love boxing.
But BJJ training is still good, still really love it!
Since I turned 40 I am merciless with the talking crap when I roll with young guys: "How old are you...? Man I could be your father and you can't get out from under my side control? That's embarrassing."
BTW, we have a Blue Belt who is 68! He's my hero.
Things DO change as you get older --no way to stop that-- but you can modify it a LOT.
Your body adapts to what you do most.
I actually find BJJ really "easy" as I get older, in the sense it is not too hard on the body. Maybe that is from doing it for a while you learn how not to get hurt and how to roll in class without spazzing or gassing. Probably if I had been doing Muay Thai or Judo or something else this whole time, I would feel a certain "ease" training in that.
Still a lot of martial arts I want to train in, but I can see the window closing some.

In my mind I'm still 25 even if my body doesn't agree!
I do get much satisfaction being the oldest guy in my platoons (I have two of them lucky me!) and still out do everyone physically. They younguns try hard to beat me but its fun I love taking PT test and going, "I beat you on YOUR scale. That's sad, so sad!"______

You can't practice Judo just to win a Judo Match! You practice so that no matter what happens, you can win using Judo! The key to fighting two men at once is to be much tougher than both of them.
