After seeing the photos, I can only say 'Wow.' The high visibility of the reticule is striking, and I bet it doesn't take hardly any time at all to get a good sight picture dialed in. Color me very impressed, and more than just a little jealous.
The actual sight pictures I've seen have been pretty clean. I need to get some range time on my friend's EOTech 557 to make sure I have no issues dealing with the multiple dots for the bullet drop point.

I was looking into the ACOG's but they are too expensive (all models appear to be above 1000.00) and they are magnified scopes. You have to get a red-dot seperate (although Cabela's has the TA31TRD available for 1400 which includes scope and red-dot for long and close quarters shooting).

I started looking at the Aimpoints but they were just red-dots and red-dots only. I do, however, like the idea of the Aimpoint CEU:

In the end, the EOTech's appear to be the better value. Especially if you can find the combo sight/magnifier. The battery life is reasonably long, the sight picture is less crowded (the slight exception being the ones with bullet drop compensation MOA dots) but appears effective in target acquisition.

    Datdamnmachine,

Depending on availability, I can get you an Elcan Spectre DR in Tan for $800. Same ones the US SOCCOM dudes get issued.
It's a variable 1x power aim point and adjustable to 4x power with the flip of a switch.
You can turn a nob and illuminate a red dot or the whole crosshairs for low light shooting. (Posted the picture of it a couple pages back).
$800 is still a big chuck of change but they retail for $1799 and a two year wait list.
I picked up a few for $500 at the time used one and sold the rest but now $800 (Canadian) is what we get them for and it'd cost you.
You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it

Yeah, I saw the picture. You could shoot the individual hairs from the balls of a mosquito with that thing...

Pg 32 of the March 2010 issue of American Rifleman (mine just came in the mail today) - is that who I think it is in the Kel-Tec ad?

I can't find an online version of the ad right now, but it's for this rifle - http://www.kel-tec-cnc.com/rfb.htm

Well, after a bit more Google-fu, I answered both of my suspicions.

1 - Yes, it is Kidspatula
2 - Yes, it is a pic by Oleg. (answering #2 answered #1 by default)

Does making it into the pages of American Rifleman as a model qualify one as a gun-porn star?

It is cheaper than a good M14, though.
