Here's a really quick video of me hitting a couple of heelhooks at Grapplers Quest last saturday. The first guy I sub is a bjj brown belt and the second guy is a bjj black belt. I took the gold in the middleweight advanced.
These are not the world's most technically impressive leg attacks, and there are at least a few people on this board who would take my ankles home with them. But here you go anyway:

Thanks for the video!
Could you fill us in on your training background?
Was it your gameplan for the entire tournament to immediately drop to leg control?
Was the heel hook the only attack you went for? I couldn't quite make it out.

I'm a pure no-gi guy with no wrestling background. I started in 2001 or 2002. I think the vast majority of my grappling base is stuff I learned with my brother from books and the interwebs.
I train at the University of Utah with SAMMA, the grappling club there. For the last few years, I've also trained off and on at Elite Performance Gym in Salt Lake. The instructors at Elite (Jeremy and Justin) are really excellent no-gi guys. I hope to get in there more in 2010.

Yeah, my entire game plan was to hunt for heelhooks. The first guy pulled guard on me really fast and I hit the inside heel hook to counter his outside heel hook.
The second guy is a stronger wrestler, so I went straight to the leg.
