Thiago Silva Injured, UFC Persuade Him To Fight On

Rumour has it that American Top Team light heavyweight and the man set to co-main event UFC 108 alongside Rashad Evans on January 2nd has suffered an ankle injury during training.

The news comes via Figure Four Weekly who also reveal the UFC are making it worth the Brazilian’s time to remain a part of the already massively injury hit card. It must be noted that this is an unconfirmed report.

This comes hot on the heels of today’s news that former PRIDE star, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has been forced to withdraw from his UFC 109 fight with Brandon Vera, putting even further pressure on the promotions roster.

Dana White must have angered an MMA witch doctor or something. His promotion's cursed lately - his top fighters keep canceling their matches. Soon he'll be left with Kimbo and Heath Herring for a main event.

According to Figure Four Weekly, it was only a rumor and was not confirmed.

Hmm, if Thiago Silva will be unable to fight, who can replace him? Has to be somebody skilled and popular, so as to bring an audience. Not to mention show case a good fight while fighting Evans. As well as someone who is willing to fight on short notice and in a Light Heavyweight match....hmmm, who?

That would depend on Ed Soares deciding whether or not Anderson has surgery on his elbow, or even needs surgery, or already had it and is recovering, or is done with recovery and ready to fight, or is recovering but keeps suffering setbacks every time the UFC books him on a PPV that will sell less than 300k.
