UFC 108: Rashad Evans vs Thiago Silva; two Lauzon's! Jan. 2, 2010

Ultimate Fighting Championship 108: Rashad 'Suga' Evans vs Thiago Silva
    MGM Grand
    Las Vegas, Nevada

The Ultimate Fighting Championship kicks off the New Year with an explosive light heavyweight main event that has serious implications on the title picture at 205 pounds.

Former world champion and Ultimate Fighter® season ten coach 'Suga' Rashad Evans begins his quest to regain his crown as he takes on Brazilian powerhouse Thiago Silva, who is coming off a spectacular 95 second knockout of Evans' friend and training partner Keith Jardine.

It’s a grudge match of epic proportions. UFC® 108: Evans vs. Silva, live on pay-per-view from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Rashad 'Suga' Evans vs Thiago Silva
Joe 'J-Lau' Lauzon vs Sam 'Hands of Stone' Stout
Junior 'Cigano' Dos Santos vs Gilbert 'The Hurricane' Yvel
Cole 'Magrinho' Miller vs Dan 'The Upgrade' Lauzon
Vladimir 'The Janitor' Matyushenko vs Steve 'Robot' Cantwell
Mark 'The Filipino Wrecking Machine' Munoz vs Ryan Jensen
Mike 'Quicksand' Pyle vs Jake Ellenberger

Not sure why the UFC site only lists seven fights. I will count the below fights as 'rumoured' until confirmed officially on the UFC site.

    John Gunderson vs. Rafaello Oliveira
Martin Kampmann (No. 9 WW) vs. Jacob Volkmann
Sean Sherk (No. 8 LW) vs. Jim Miller
Paul Daley (No. 8 WW) vs. Dustin Hazelett

Commentary: I almost let out a laugh when I saw Gilbert Yvel listed there. To be fair I mostly enjoy the Dutch Muay Thai stylist's fights but his character is far from poster boy material. I'm happy to see our own Joe Lauzon fighting again, after his surgery, we wish him the best. I'm also happy to see Joe's younger brother Dan Lauzon back in the UFC, may his jock strap be untested.

    Picks?

Yeah, apparently Dana wants Steve "The Moustache" Mazzagatti to ref Yvel's fight. Can't stand Yvel myself, hope Dos Santos breaks something on him.

Picks will have to wait, but good luck J-Lau!

Evans/Silva is gonna be GOOD, I can feel it. It's been tough trying to get this card together, fingers are crossed everybody stays healthy from here on out.

Where'd you here about this one? Guns is a pretty nice guy and it would be nice to see him fighting again. Never was friends or anything with him but he was a good guy to roll with and eager to learn and work.

Other than seeing Joe fight, this card doesn't seem exciting to me at all. Am I the only one?
