i managed to get tickets to this. it'll be the first UFC event i've attended.
went to an autograph signing today. joe stevenson, wanderlei, elvis sinosic and george were there.
joe is the nicest, coolest guy ever. wanderlei's face is... heavily scarred. george is really nice too, and i train under elvis so i already knew he was an arsehole.
i'm really surprised at how quickly these tickets sold out. i didn't think it would be so popular here. most people i know wouldn't have a clue what MMA is. but it seems that enough people know to sell out in half an hour. -
Thumbs up!

Bisping's good, but I don't think he's got the tools to stop someone like Wandy in rage-mode.
And, as much as I love him, I think we need to let '04 Cro Cop rest in peace. I'm not saying he's gonna lose, but he's not a young fighter. Look to him making choice shots, trying to play the outside with 1-2-K (probably low or mid, maybe a couple high) combos. If he's gonna win, he's gonna do it slow and methodically. -

I'm guessing these guys generally won't be flying in a few days before the weekend and fight with jetlag. Does that mean they're going to set up training camps here? Where will they be training? Robert Drysdale will be down here a few weeks before hand to host a seminar, maybe hes training one of the fighters on the card?
The Daily Telegraph in Sydney called it the Ultimate Fighting Challenge... -

Sydney Morning Herald had a video story on their website, with Marcus Davis' bloodied face as the link. I am looking forward to the controversy, only because it will be cheap shots by "outraged" politicians looking to score political points rather than anything that will actually stop the event. I predict that MMA will explode here.
I know what you mean Danno, I have grown tired of explaining MMA to people I know. Last weekend I was at my fiancees friends party and overheard someone talking about "the fight tomorrow" which was obviously UFC 107. I thought I'd found some fans, which I had and they were good blokes, only they weren't exactly as "educated".
I asked whether they trained too early in the conversation to have realised this and subsequently revealed my limited training in BJJ. This resulted in a barrage of questions designed to prove to me that they knew what they were talking about:
"Do you know x-guard, butterfly guard and rubberguard?"
"I know how to do armbars and kimura's, do you know how to set them up?"
I actually had to suppress a laugh.
Eventually I said to them that it is good to finally find some fight fans and this resulted in one of the guys ( once again, a top bloke) telling me they had been in to it since "Royce Gracie won the first one". Considering that the guy is my age and that the first one happened around my 9th birthday, I find it hard to believe. Not saying it is impossible, but I doubt it, severely. I mean, many Australians in the early 90's were still watching black and white tv, cable TV was a concept known through US shows. -
