Ming: I watched some of Yee's other videos. It's really funny to see so much Hung Ga in his dao yin, as if he'd mixed a bit of modern western sports therapy and yoga/pilates with Iron Wire. It looks like good training.
i have also wondered about the location of the forest of mist and the way of chicken boxing.

and yes, i think you are close in thinking that his dao yin is a mix of hung ga qi gong (iron wire is full of that stuff) and both sports therapy and bits of yoga and pilates. it can be a hellish workout, and the man is stronger than anyone his size has a right to be, so he is doing something right. i am ashamed to admit that i have not been as diligent as he has in terms of daily practice, but i aspire to be that disciplined.

I don't know about ki powah, but it's your center of gravity I believe and is the point I focus beginning my whipping power generation motions for strikes. I'm sure it's not a coincidence MAists in ye olden times labelled that point as something mystical and special.

Those interested in Chinese physical culture as it applied to combat sports will probably want to have a look at this thread.

Here's a very basic joint loosening routine that comes from Chen taiji:

YouTube- Chan Ssu Chin - Silk Reeling Coccoon Exercises

... this is the far gentle end of the dao yin spectrum, and accords with what most people do for qi gong (plus or minus some arm swinging).

But what? It's a classic routine, and one of the one's that's recommended for anyone who's just starting out in this kind of Chinese physical culture.

i'll be glad to do my best. in my pursuit of judo over the last 5 months i have abandoned all my cma training to purely focus my mind on the fine art of throwing motherfuckers on their heads, but i think at this point i should get back into a daily practice of qi gong/dao yin, iron wire (or another form) and stretching.
