Years ago, I attended a Juko-kai Combat Ki clinic, and was certified in it. I did so to prove I have THEIR PAPERS before I point out its bullshido. Almost EVERYONE there was 100% sure they could extend their ki into their neck and not be choked out. Many also felt that if I tried to cut them with my knife I would dull my blade...!!!!?????

It was lucky for them I was more in a choking than a cutting mood. But lots of people came to Jesus that weekend.....

....and yes, the final story was my Ki was stronger than theirs.....
It probably is, TBH. If Ki is the same thing as common sense.

And by ki, I mean chin.
If only Seagal had thought of that. He'd have been pretty much invincible.

Well, until Judo Gene started manipulating his nose or jamming his fingers up under his top lip.

btw, here's some rare footage of Seagal fighting in the cage. :laughing1

    This is Donn F Draeger.

As you can see by his sheer awesomeness, the F stands for "Fucking".

A cracked article just showed up on seagull. I haven't read it yet, but there's probably some lulz.

::EDIT:: Just read it, not their best work. Okay though.

This might be old news, but...

I'd never seen the 'Path Beyond Thought' documentary (read 'Seagal nut-rider sensei love-fest produced by Seagal') until this afternoon. Didn't realize that it was even up on YouTube until it popped up on my recs list...

Some good footage of Seagal showing his stuff in the place where Aikido happens - covering the time period from his Japanese to Early Fat eras. It's mostly flippy demonstration stuff - but there's a bit of swordwork from The Seagull, and a three-man randori that actually looks rather 'alive', FWIW.

and so on, to part 11...

He did compete in a european league for full contact MA, he did ffight for a regional championship but lost the match, he later won a rematch with the same guy so his managment changed the facts a bit. His style was originally Savate but he also took ballet when he was young too.

This info is what I found but then again it was on the intra webz.

I was under the impression he started in Karate then switched to Kickboxing when it became available.

He was either Seidokan or KK before going to kickboxing, if I recall.

I knew Steve Segal quite well when I lived on Morrison Street in North Hollywood. Seagal had a studio closeby on Magnolia Blvd. I checked out his studio and got to know the guy quite well. He used to toss this small Japanese guy around. He looked great as a lot of martial artists do when the partner is cooperating with your techniques. I have a boxing background and I used to bounce at the old forty niner club on the corner of Hollywood and Western which was a real bucket of blood at the time so I know how real streetfights happen and Seagal really never impressed me as traing for real fights whether in the ring or on the streets. He was a nice friendly guy that brought in pizza for his students and had this pretty girl come in one time to rub his feet. He was nice to me and that was good for me as I needed a nice mellow place to hang out. I last saw him after he did out for justice when he had a studio on LaCienega in Los Angeles where we had a nice pleasnt conversation.
