The scarry part is, it's not always the ignorant hicks that are predjudiced. The problem is, equality in it's true sense is absent from general education on anything short of superficial level.
It never fails to make me sad to realize how far we have gone but how little we have learned. -

I am sorry but i have never had any sexual thoughts while grappling strangers. the only time I have ever been turned on by grappling is when i grapple my wife in the privacy of our own home. I do not get turned on by her at the gym because it is not the place. It is ridiculous for people to assume that a gay guy will be turned on and have sexual thoughts while grappling. I personally would never have a problem grappling a gay person. Thats me though, and I know were I stand sexually and am comfortable in my own skin to grapple some one who is gay even though i am not. It is no different then grappling a women in my opinion.

I disagree with some of the assertions the filmmaker makes but the point is a training partner is simply that. There is no gender/sexuality on the mat. It is a pressure test regardless of gender or sexuality. The mat is not a proper place for a date. People getting blackballed from competition over sexuality is incredibly foolish and counterproductive for the sport. I am far more worried about an opponent's submissions and passes than who their significant other may be.

Reverse perspective:
A few months ago a homosexual friend of mine was contemplating taking up grappling. I told him jump on in. He told me he was afraid to. I asked him him why. It wasn't the answer I was expecting. He told me what if he had sexual thoughts during grappling?
I simply laughed. I told him you don't have time for sexual thoughts while you're rolling. People are trying to lock your arm out, choke you out and flip you. Then I told him that if this is sincerely his fear I don't think he's serious enough; I put it in the respect of me grappling the women of the gym. Then he asked if I would roll with him knowing he was gay. I laughed and told him the only person that seems to be making this an issue was him.
He never joined the class but it was an interesting response. -

Being in CA and especially so close to San Francisco, frankly, most of the whining in regards to...anything and everything gets real old, real fast (anyone posting on here from CA can probably attest to the fact that every other asshole here has a soap box and isn't afraid to bust it out).
This is a perfect example of what people should be complaining about because it's absolute bullshit and unacceptable. **** anyone that has a serious problem sparring with a gay guy or girl. -
