    Exactly!
That's where the teamwork comes in! Preventing/controlling the 2-on-1!

I though tthat was kind of lame too. Butthen I thought about two guys wrestling, and a third just walking up and choking out the one on top.

To much advantage is given to whomever is not in the clinch.

the problem is we don't know exactly what kind of strategies people would come up with. it's all speculation until then.

+1 If you take someone down or pull guard in a 3 man fight, then you better have a good plan for dealing with that man that is still standing.

I say let them make up their own strategies. I wouldn't go for the doubleleg if there was another guy about to take my back or stomp me.

I heard Shonie Carter used to do 3-on-2 matches. Personally, though, I think multiple opponent MMA would be much more interesting if it were held in a Battlebot pit:

but that's what i'd like to know - what exactly are the best strategies in that situation?

most people assumed that ground fighting would be pretty useless in the first UFC. we're now making the same assumptions about a sport with multiple combatants.

i say the proof is in the pudding.

Well, I can't speak for others, but that is the strategy I came up with. It's also what we see happening during the standing game already. Two guys become occupied with each other, and guy number three sucker punches the man of his choice.

I like it though. It's kind of :eatbabies.

Is it too late to change my bet to $20 on the Thracian?

Ground play probably wouldn't be the wisest, unless someone comes up with Meatshield-Jistu, and masters techniques that nullify your opponents GP/submissions while keeping him between you and the sucker-punch guy.

Beyond that, massive roundhouse kicks that can hit two people at once? Drunken Fist? Double armbars?

Oooh! Epic Judo! Not just throwing one guy, but throwing that guy into the other! I would pay $50 just to see a double KO from a seonage. That's right, $50 for five seconds of footage.

I can be fairly sure of myself that grappling would do much good in the first round, leaving you right open for a sucker punch/kick from the third guy. As for the 1 on 1 round 2, it would mostly go like a UFC fight but in Gis. Judo might become a bit more popular for quick takedowns and to temporarily make the fight 1 on 1.
