He's wearing a Lovato patch.
Not listed on the competition team or as an instructor.
Email has been sent to give Lovato a heads up on this thread. The school itself is well known and respected for the quality of instruction.

Here is his website if I have the name correct.
Sounds like he recently went under Carlos Machado.
If it is the same guy, he has competed:
1st Justin Rader (Machado)
2nd Malcom Muhammed (Machado)
3rd Eddie Avelar (Machado)
He hasn't changed it anywhere to say he is a BB in BJJ.
1ST- JORY MALONE (LIVING DEFENSE)
2ND- MICHAEL NADELEY (PITTMAN)
3RD- MALCOM MUHAMMAD (LOVATO)
Men's Advanced Cruiser
1st Place - Malcolm Muhammad - Lovato's BJJ
2nd Place - Alvis Solis - Machado BJJ
3rd Place - Mike Fulford - Machado BJJ

Good work IIF.
My bad. Had never heard of their school and only saw the Lovato patch.

Well he did compete under Lovato so, that was a good call. I'm curious what they have to say. Also, it reminds me of someone else we had on bullshido. A guy with legit grappling rank who wore one of his other ranks while grappling.

There are NONE that use BJJ Belts.
The MOST similar belt to a BJJ Black Belt is used In some styles of American jujitsu (e.g. Danzan Ryu) and in American Kenpo wherein they use LONG RED TIPS to denote "Professors".
In these belts the red material is much longer then the red sleeve on a BJJ belt and covers the END of the belt --unlike in BJJ belts.
There are no styles other than BJJ that use the BJJ-style "sleeve". It is unique to Brazilian Jiu jitsu.Originally Posted by Sifu Rudy Abel

You know there are no documentations on when those videos were shot. They could actually be years apart. Just saying.

Yes, and MT used be known as not having Black Belts either. Now, a few are popping up.
I said I know it doesn't help with the rank jump. If you know all of this already you should have posted this tid bit. I have never claimed to do BJJ or know how they denote their belts.
As many asinine rank frauds we get I am hoping it is something innocent.
Can you explain the "Red Sleeve?"

The red sleeve is simply that you can see the black tip poking out of the end of the belt. Whereas other arts, the tip of the belt is red also.
Here is a pic:

Same time thank you. Now, I see the issue with the belt. He has it stripped in a manner normally indicative of BJJ rank denotation correct?
Well this definitely doesn't help if I understand what you guys are saying:
