What I think you mean to say is that there are lots of Shinto statues everywhere. Which would be more on the mark. The Buddhist here have many temples. Not statues.
When you do find them, they are often very large. Like the Nara Daibutsu or the one in Kamakura.
Of course, you'd know that, being the professional Buddhist.
