Bas Rutten - not commentating any more?!

Hey,

Is it just me, or hasn't El Guapo worked as a fight commentator ever since Fedor vs Arlovski/him calling Jerry Millen an asshole while live on air?

I don't like the new commentators too much; Bas was sometimes crazy,
but always original!

Any info on why Rutten doesn't commentate any more, lately? Or have I simply missed the fights where he commented?

I know he doesn't do commentary for the us broadcasts for the US broadcasts of the DREAM shows anymore either, but that's because the new crew is completely and utterly awesome.

I love that Australian guy. He is so enthusiastic, it's infectious. At the last DREAM some Brazilian guy was in the middle of speaking horrible broken english very slowly and he's like, "THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!" out of nowhere. It was awesome.

That Australian guy is definitely one of my favorite commentators out there. So is Bas. I wish both were more popular in the US.

I can not stand that prick Schibello! If Bas is out of a job I really feel bad for him, but I guess he can now concentrate on coaching.

So, is there any clue why Bas doesn't accompany the broadcasts any more?

- I mean, maybe he left deliberately, because he's now paid enough by HDnet.

Michael Schiavello is terrible. If I hear "THE BIG KABOSH" or "GOOD NIGHT, IRENE" one more time I'm going to start watching DREAM with the sound muted.

I dunno, I kind of like fun commentators. Not to Mauro Renallo levels, but it's more his voice that bothers me than his commenting. Listening to KenFlo, Shamrock, or even Mir is just way too boring for me.

he needs to come up with some other catch phrases.

the worst is when you watch one of those shows where they take the best fights from several events and show them back to back. then it becomes even clearer that he needs new material as he tells the same joke after every KO, "the ref asked <fighter x> what his name was and he said 'wednesday'!!!" snore.
