There was a good interview with him at the end, too. Worked nicely in conjunction with what he said to the Fightworks Podcast before the event. It will be interesting to see if many other top submission guys who lack actual rank in BJJ also start doing well at the highest level in BJJ.
I wasn't expecting to enjoy the No Gi Worlds as much as I did: ended up sticking another article up about it. I was especially pleased with the coverage of women: seven matches, by my count, though I didn't see the absolutes. -

I really enjoyed Sean Williams and Sean Patrick Flanery's commentary as well, Slideyfoot. Glover made me laugh as he seemed a bit distracted although the coverage was a bit disjointed. Hopefully in future events they'll actually have some form of communication with the mats so they know who is competing where instead of, "There's someone from Gracie-Barra and someone else I don't recognize".
A friend from my gym and a great jiujiteiro and teacher, Gary Claxton, took his bracket there in his first competition as a black belt. -

You mean Erik Paulson? He has rank in all sorts of things, which IIRC also includes a black belt in BJJ under Rigan Machado.
The guy Barnett beat in the final, Bruno Paulista, also just so happens to be one of his training partners. Barnett talked about that in the interview, and how he was looking forward to fighting him.
Also, for those who missed it the first time round, according to a Budovideos rep on The Underground, there will be a replay tomorrow night, staying up on nogi.com for a week. May just be the finals though, so not including the interviews and other matches. -
