It's not even sarcasm. I wasn't aware Lyoto Machida had fought anyone named Shogan either.

This Shogan fellow must be pretty good to go all the way with Machida.

I was a little shocked. Sure, he changed sides quickly, but I guess even a dog can realize it has more in common with the wolf than with the shephard.

I give him the names of some BJJ schools in the area, and we go our separate ways.

Oh you guys. Shogan's that guy from Shoot Box University. Back in SELF ESTEEM Fighting Championships, he was considered heir apparent to Walter Lee Silva's throne.

OK, weighing in late here. I can't see how anyone would have scored that fight in favor of Machida. Shogun easily hit Machida more in that fight than all of Machida's previous UFC fights combined. Machida got some nice combos in, stuffed Shogun's takedowns, but Shogun was clearly landing harder shots and dominating the Octagon. I'm saying this as an admitted Machida nutrider who was rooting for Machida the whole fight. After almost every round I was saying "damn, but he can still come back in the next round."

i scored it for rua, but in no way do i think it was a robbery. round one was the decider imo, and it was pretty close. i gave rounds 2 and 3 to machida, one of them (i can't remember which) easily and the other a little more begrugingly.
