Personally, I thought it was a decent fight. There were some great scrambles, but compared to the other fights that night, it was pretty lackluster.

Against Werdum, against Sergei, against Crocop, against Chuck, and in the ADCC Europe trials, which he won

Overeem has pretty much always had excellent takedowns

Fedor could moonwalk over Overeem - but I am biased since I hate his puffy "Oh look, I suddenly gained 40 pounds of muscle overnight, how did THAT HAPPEN?" face and stupid haircut.
If by "Overnight" you mean "Over the course of two years steadily gaining two pounds per month"

That he didn't just outright destroy him makes me wonder if this means Fedor a) didn't take the fight as seriously as normal (guy got married in the middle of his training camp) or b) the new breed of super-heavyweights (Lesnar, Carwin, etc.) who cut to make 265 are so huge that they're going to be difficult for him.

Fedor vs Rogers was a great fight. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hell! I was standing around, heart pumping like crazy. It was downright exciting. I worried for a while because of the cut and whether it would precipitate a doctor's stoppage, but Fedor seemed impervious to it, in his usual cyborg-like fashion.

I think Overeem would probably offer a good fight up against Fedor. He has been pretty consistent for the last two years and would be the most athletically gifted fighter Emelianenko's faced in a long while. Call me crazy!

Not so keen on the prospect of him going against Werdum. His standup's pretty lack-luster and Fedor's up to Werdum's ground game. I'll certainly take it over anything else they've got in the Strikeforce's HW's but Overeem should be the next one in line for the Last Emperor.

Man, I can't wait for the next time Fedor fights!

Um, apparently not. I'd say the committal was appropriate given the outcome.
