My wife's family is originally from Korat and I asked wife's brother, who is not a muay thai fighter but watches (and bets on) plenty of fight, if he knows of this muay korat. He stated that because people from Korat are taller than most Thais, which they are if wife is an example, they developed style which has long range kicks and punches. However, he showed me some old pictures of fighters in Korat, and none were using the locked leg stances or hands together in front of face. However, as this is an ancient style perhaps they did long ago.

Dude, don't diss the Ong Bak. It's got good fight scenes (compared to many other MA movies these days that are Matrix spin-offs).

Then again there are probably better movies that just didn't make it here to the West and I completely missed them.

I just found the whole thing a bit kung-fu ish tbh.. films like 'the hunted' or 'fight club' have better fight scenes IMO

I suppose. Plenty of show-off in that movie (but rather okay compared to other Tony Jaa movies like Ong Bak 2 or The Protector). Fight Club was pretty nice. The Hunted I haven't seen. We need a movie with more "realistic" fighting between martial artists.

actually I just had a thought, I remember in one of the Bourne films there was a fight in a kitchen that was pretty sweet

YouTube- Jason fights hitman in Paris

^^its not this one but I aso thought this one was pretty good, improvised weapons add realism IMO

EDIT: found it.. this is probably the best movie fight scene I've seen
    YouTube- Bourne Supremacy Fight Scene
