I have noticed that systema videos are starting to look like Chi videos. Like in the second knife defense video where you touch someone on the back of the head and they fall flopping to the ground. Come on. If it wasn't for stuff like that, systema would have an easier time. By the way, I'm not saying systema is all bad, just that Fedor doesn't do it.

My wife's uncle bought a Systema video from Paladin Press a few years ago and was trying to tell me, about the secret russion art that he is studying. Well, we all know how the story ends. But I did watch the video. I can sum it up in one word: Weird!

Edit: Matter of fact, the guy in the first knife video is the one in the video that I watched. I forget the name of it.

In Soviet Russia, Systema uses Fedor.

Funny, in one Paris MA show they had Systema demo, and group and moves looked more like Combat Sambo, and not like some Dim Mak stuff.

From what I have been told, most fighting styles require you to work out of a base stance. Think about Karate or Kick Boxing, everything is taught for a basic stance. The same can be said for BJJ, where you you are taught starting in the guard. The one thing about systema is you are taught to wait and go with what your opponent gives you, being ready to fight out of any position with out resetting yourself to a fundamental stance. Its all about being fluid, inventive and unorthodox

Hmm sounds familiar . "Be water my friend!"

Bruce Lee wasn't a fighter, he was an actor and a bodybuilder. Don't listen to him.

Sirc, there's no easy way to break this to you.

I'm flattered, but I'm just not interested. There are plenty of great guys out there, give one of them a shot.
