Dude, I'm no weaponsmith and I managed to turn my SAR into an evil black rifle with a dremel tool and a flat tip screwdriver.

No. You just need a $200 tax stamp and a form signed by the chief law enforcement officer of the region.

But a WASR is semi-auto anyway.

So, I read the instructions that came with the polymer stock and it seems pretty straight forward. Field strip the rifle, unscrew the wood stock, screw in the polymer stock. The only problem is that for some reason you're apparently also supposed to drill the polymer stock with some little screws it came with, but I don't have a drill.

Sweet, Ronin! I gotta get some welding equipment, I'm currently putting one together myself. I also have to replace a certain amount of other parts with American made ones. I don't know how many, but I know my home finished receiver would be 1 American part.

Hold off buying that next firearm until you at least get a Dremel and a cordless drill. You will be out like a $150 total for the two and it will make its investment back 10 fold.

I've read somewhere something about a law banning atuomatic weapons or some such.

Pardon my ignorance on weapons again, but cannot semi-autos get converted to autos anyway? I guess that would be highly illegal, if possible.

My WASR, 50 feet down range on the 150 yard target (The smallest target on this http://www.letargets.com/images/apg.jpg ), unsupported.

I'm not the best shot in the world, but I was totally happy with it.
